체스터 베닝턴이 세상을 등진 지도 벌써 3년이 다 되어간다.

지금 시점에서 린킨 파크의 음악을 되돌아보면 전에는 그렇지 않았는데 뭔가 슬프게 느껴지는 곡이 많은데, 이 곡 또한 그렇다.

 

3집 <Minutes To Midnight>는 당시에 평론가들한테도, 팬들에게도 많은 비판 비난을 받았는데

도대체 왜 그런 평가를 받았었는지 모르겠다.

아마도 1집과 2집의 뉴메탈 스타일에 익숙해 있었기 때문에 이런 급작스러운 변화가 낯설었기 때문일지도 모르겠다.

실제로 지금에 와서는 대부분의 팬들이 명반으로 꼽는 린킨 파크 앨범 중 하나다.

그 중에서도 가장 손에 꼽을 곡을 골라보라 한다면 나는 이 곡을 뽑고 싶다.

영상의 3:54 부터 시작하는 기타 리프와 이후의 보컬 하모니가 백미.

한편으로는 곡의 분위기 때문인지 체스터의 내면이 느껴지는 것 같아 들을 때마다 먹먹해지기도 한다.

People talk about songs like Numb, Crawling, etc. But songs like this along with Drawbar, No Roads Left, One More Light, and many others, are truly amazing and showed their creative depth. I think people will look back at certain songs like this one and realize that this band was misunderstood when they initially existed. Time will only tell.

 

확실히 이 댓글에 공감되는 것이, 린킨 파크는 지나치게 저평가된 곡들이 많다고 생각한다.

이 곡도 린킨 파크의 대표 곡들에 비하면 정말 대중들에게 알려지지 않은 편에 속한다.

많은 분들이 이런 린킨 파크의 숨겨진 명곡들을 알게 되었으면 좋겠다고 생각한다.
